A Brief History of Pfalf
Pfrank Pfrankssen was born in Norway in the
mid 1800's. As a young man he loved to fish and play golf in the summer months
whenever he was able. When he married and had children, he desired to share his
joy of these fine sports with his family. In doing so he became distressed by
his homeland's cold temperatures, snow, and ice, interfering with his family's
leisure sporting activities. Balls were continuously being lost in the ice and
snow, holes could not be located, and expense of ice auguring equipment made
fishing cost prohibitive, not to mention it being just plain PFREEZIN'.
Pfalf was born! At first it seemed so simple to Pfrank that he wasn't aware of
the intrinsic benefits of his idea. Adding a wooden disc and a feathered
projectile, he combined his two sports of choice into one sport that could be
played winter, spring, summer, or fall, on ice, snow, dry grass, cobblestone,
flooring, and even in and near water. His sport would soon prove to develop
greater mastery of the mechanical aspects of fishing in his progeny, while
educating them in the etiquette and play format of golf. Shortly thereafter, he
discovered that his children could now outcast him, and that his worries of
tangled lines and hooked siblings in confined spaces were things of the past.
Soon the entire family was taking turns, being polite, exercising together,
learning more and more about Pfrank's favorite sports, and truly enjoying their
surroundings, whatever the season. It didn't even feel cold anymore. OK, maybe a
little, but they were having so much fun it didn't bother them. Pfrank found
tremendous joy in the growth and understanding his children experienced. He felt
better each and every day as a result of his simple invention.
Pfrank moved to the northern United States in the early 1900's. He traveled south in search of a more favorable climate over the years, but kept his sport to himself and his immediate family. Pfrank finally settled on the shores of Table Rock Lake in beautiful Kimberling City, Missouri. Throughout his life, Pfrank honed his skills and knowledge of the sport, sharing his changes, up to the version recently divulged to the public at large, with only his children and grandchildren. As technology advanced, much of the equipment was improved, including the heavy wooden disc, which was substituted with much lighter plastic versions, making the game safer and more enjoyable for children of all ages. He passed on at the ripe age of 106. The sport of Pfalf remained in the hearts and minds of Pfrank’s children and grandchildren throughout the twentieth century and into the twenty-first before, in an effort to promote unity among bickering schoolmates, his great, great grandson Pfil Pfrankssen blurted out the intricacies of the previously unheard-of sport.
Almost immediately, in a twenty-first century internet blitz, the word was out. Pfalf had come out of the closet and was destined to be a sport that would unite families and friends throughout the world and perhaps beyond.
Upon his passing, Pfranks remains were scattered over the waters of Table Rock Lake off the dock of Kimberling Oaks Resort where he lived out his final years. His soul is no doubt with God and his spirit lives on at Kimberling Oaks where love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are exercised regularly by owners and guests alike.
